According to Angles City police chief Chief Insp Francisco Guevarra Jr., Mark Anthony Fernandez tried to skip a checkpoint in Bgy. Birhen Delos Remedios. But because of heavy traffic, the actor was cornered in San Fernando City and was eventually arrested. Police said they found 1 kilo of marijuana on the passenger seat of his yellow Ford Mustang.
But in an interview, Fernandez denied that he was bringing marijuana when he was arrested and that he does not when it came from. However, he admitted that he was at that time planning to buy marijuana from a drug dealer to avoid cancer. But suddenly, authorities appeared from nowhere and the supplier ran away and successfully escaped.
Fernandez, 37, who is best known for being the son of late-actor star Rudy Fernandez and actress-turned politician Alma Moreno, categorically denied that he was arrested in a checkpoint. Nevertheless, he appealed to the public not to stop supporting his mother, who ran for senator under then-VP Jejomar Binay’s party in the 2016 elections but lost.
Also known for being a member of the 90s trio ‘Guwapings’ along with Jomari Yllana and Eric Fructoso, Fernandez will immediately be subjct for inquest once the result of his drug test is released. As of posting, the former matinee idol is still detained at the Police Station 6 in Angeles City, while Alma Moreno is yet to comment on her son’s latest trouble.

Incidentally, this is not the first time that Mark Anthony Fernandez was involed in illegal drugs. In the late 90s, he entered a drug rehabilitation center after he was acquitted from an assault case. He made a short comeback in the movies and TV shows, but underwent another rehab in 2003. In 2005, he became active in showbiz again and became a Kapuso star.
