Following a blast that killed at least 15 in Davao City Friday night, the United States Embassy in Manila has suspended its staff’s official travels to Mindanao.
In a post on its website, the US Embassy also urged US citizens to remain vigilant and even employ “sound personal security measures.”
“The Embassy has temporarily suspended all official travel to Mindanao. While we have no information that indicates there is a direct threat to U.S. citizens or interests in the Philippines, the Embassy encourages all U.S. citizens to remain vigilant and employ sound personal security measures as you go about your day,” it said.
Also, it said it will continue to monitor the current state of affairs in the Philippines and will release additional messages as needed.
Earlier, the US National Security Council said the US is offering help to Philippine authorities in probing the blast.
