Presidential peace adviser Jess Dureza and Sen. Alan Cayetano resorted to finger-pointing on the failed seat-plan among US President Obama, President Duterte and UN secretary general Ban Ki Moon during the gala dinner last Wednesday evening in Laos.
Sought for explanation after the gala dinner that was accompanied by a rich cultural presentation from various ASEAN countries, Dureza blamed disinformation on the media reports that Duterte will be seated together with Obama and Ban.
Cayetano branded the reports as “pure imagination” of the media.
When told that the Presidential Communication Office of the Office of the President issued the press release earlier in the day, Cayetano changed his tone, telling the media that they learned about the seating arrangement upon arrival at the dinner venue.
It turned out that Duterte was seated between Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Presidential communications Martin Andanar reportedly explained to the Philippine media delegation that all set-up were subject to change.
