After the Supreme Court granted the petition of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile for a Bill of Particulars, his former chief-of-staff and co-accused in the pork barrel scam cases, lawyer Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes, is also asking a copy of her own.
However, Reyes claimed that the Office of the Ombudsman has refused to give her a copy of the Bill of particulars which details the accusations in the cases.
Reyes, through her lawyer Anacleto Diaz, has filed a motion before the Sandiganbayan Third Division to order the Ombudsman to give her a copy of the Bill of Particulars.
Diaz learned that a copy of the Bill of Particulars has been released by the Office of the Ombudsman, however, the prosecution “has, despite repeated requests failed and refused to provide accused Reyes with a copy thereof.”
“Being thus the party principally alleged to have committed the overt acts constituting the crime of plunder and as a principal accused charged as a con-conspirator in the subject information for plunder, accused Reyes should, as a matter or right, be furnished a copy of the Bill of Particulars filed by the Prosecution as well as all pleadings related thereto,” he pointed out in the motion.
Enrile has been charged with plunder and 15 counts of graft for allegedly amassing P172 million in kickbacks he received from co-accused, pork barrel scam brains Janet Lim Napoles.
Even though plunder is a non-bailable offense, the Senator managed to secure his bail from the Supreme Court as well as got his petition granted requiring the Ombudsman to give him the Bill of Particulars.
